Sept 9, 2011 - We are proud to announce that Mothers Central, our NAMC parenting blog is joining forces with the Museum of Motherhood's blog MamaBlogger365. Once a month MamaBlogger365 will feature a past or original post written by NAMC staff member and Mothers Central Blogger Kate Fineske.
Museum Of Motherhood, (M.O.M.) is a living, breathing community-centered arts, media and social change museum focused on amplifying the voices and experiences of mothers, connecting 'the cultural family', and pioneering new areas of academe in mother studies. This is the first and only facility of its kind serving as a valuable resource for those who wish to study motherhood and the cultural family, from lay-people to school children to serious scholars. 2011 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility
The NAMC, host for the Long Island region, will recognize the recipients of the 2011 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility at their upcoming 16th Annual Work/Life Conference scheduled for Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Crest Hollow in Woodbury, NY. This prestigious award recognizes employers that are successfully using flexibility as part of an effective workplace strategy to achieve business goals and benefit employees by helping them meet their responsibilities on and off the job. As host, the NAMC encouraged Long Island employers to apply for the award to gain recognition and promote Long Island businesses. The NAMC does not select the winners.

Companies have the opportunity to get local and national visibility for your efforts to use flexibility as a strategy to enhance productivity, recruitment and retention in a global, four-generation workforce.
The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility are part of When Work Works, a national project on workplace effectiveness and workplace flexibility from Families and Work Institute. Sloan Award APPLICANTS are self-nominated employers that complete the employer survey. Employer application deadline was April 22, 2011. Long Island Winners will be presented with their award at the 16th Annual NAMC Work/Life Conference on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at the Crest Hollow in Woodbury, NY. We are proud to say our inaugural Mile for Mothers event in 2010 brought 300 people together to walk a Mile in Mom's Shoes.
Contact us for sponsorship and vendor opportunities for this family-friendly event. Since this event is typically just before Mother's Day, it is our goal to raise awareness of the work that we do that supports mothers in every walk of life and increase the participation as we celebrate together.
Our journey to help make families the best they can be starts with mothers. The funds raised underwrite a 35 year old program that puts mom first by supporting her wherever her walk through motherhood takes her.
