NAMC Executive Committee Member Sharon Sabba Fierstein was recently featured in Who's Who in Professional Services section of the Long Island Business News. Jericho, NY- Our very own Sharon Sabba Feierstein, CPA, Director in the Litigation Services Group at Marks, Paneth & Shron LLP, was chosen to appear in a recent issue of Long Island Business News ' Who's Who in Professional Services because of her ability to offer strategic business solutions and consulting services to clients of all backgrounds. Her role includes reviewing audit work papers and client documents for securities class actions suits, researching GAAP and GAAS issues and drafting expert reports, as well as coordinating engagements and overseeing departmental operations (including staffing, billing, forecasting and determining educational needs). Her areas of expertise include mortgage banking, equipment leasing, investment companies, reinsurance, and advertising. Prior to joining Marks Paneth & Shron, Ms. Fierstein served as Chief Financial Officer of an equipment leasing company and as Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of a mortgage banking company. Additionally, she was an Audit Manager for Deloitte & Touche where she was a firm-designated specialist for investment companies and supervised audits for advertising, retail, and nonprofit organizations. Her distinguished twenty-five year career also included a two-year special assignment while at Deloitte & Touche where she served as Secretary to the International Auditing Practices Committee for the International Federation of Accountants. This position exposed Ms. Fierstein to worldwide editing practices and enabled her to contribute to the design and drafting of International Auditing Guidelines and other technical papers. A well-known leader within the professional community, Ms. Fierstein is Vice President of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA). She is also a member of both the NYSSCPA's Financial Accounting Standards Committee and its Human Resources Committee. She has previously chaired numerous committees, including the Task Force on Bylaws Revision, the Finance Committee and the Advancement of Women in the Accounting Profession Committee. Additionally, she serves as a council members as a New York State delegate to the American Institute of CPAs. She is a member of the Accountants Club of America and the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants. Extending her enthusiasm for involvement and education in her personal life, Ms. Fierstein holds leadership positions in several nonprofit organizations. At present, she serves as Treasurer of the Executive Committee for the National Association of Mothers' Centers, an organization which recognizes the challenge, the reality and the importance of mothering. She is a member of the Alumni Schools Committee of her alma mater, Wesleyan University, as well as a member of the Education Committee of the Woodbury Jewish Center. Ms. Fierstein holds a Master of Business Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She has been honored as a recipient of the Woman of Distinction in Business Award for the Town of Oyster Bay and as a recipient of the Outstanding CPA in Industry Award from the NYSSCPA. Ms. Fierstein is licensed to practice public accounting in New York. She is based in Marks, Paneth & Shron's midtown Manhattan headquarters and resides in Woodbury, New York. ### The NAMC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the belief that mothering is vitally important work and that public policy needs to value and support it. |
