NAMC Hosts Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Excellence in Workplace Flexibility

The NAMC is proud be serving as the host organization for the Long Island region’s participation in the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Excellence in Workplace Flexibility for 2010. As host, the NAMC encourages Long Island employers to apply for the award to gain recognition and promote Long Island businesses. The NAMC does not select the winners.

Employers of all types in the Long Island Region are invited to apply for the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. Your company has the opportunity to get local and national visibility for your efforts to use flexibility as a strategy to enhance productivity, recruitment and retention in a global, four-generation workforce.

The 2009 Sloan Award winners have been announced. These organizations have distinguished themselves as leading practitioners of workplace flexibility on Long Island and across the nation. The Local winners of the 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award are:

  • Albrecht, Viggiano, Zureck & Co., P.C.
  • The Alcott Group
  • BDO Seidman LLP
  • Brookhaven Science Associates/Brookhaven National Laboratory
  • Cerini & Associates
  • Deloitte
  • Farrell Fritz, P.C.
  • Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP
  • KPMG LLP
  • YES Community Counseling Center

The Long Island winners were presented with their award at the NAMC's 14th Annual Work/Life Conference.  Sloan Award winners will also receive :

  • National recognition, including mention in a full-page ad in USA Today.
  • Official congratulations in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
  • Company profile featured in a publication on Bold New Ideas for Making Work Work, by Families and Work Institute, to be distributed across the country, to a targeted media list, and made available on-line.
  • Local recognition, including tribute in an awards ceremony hosted by the NAMC at the NAMC's Annual Work/Life Conference tentatively scheduled for November 5, 2010. The NAMC will feature local winners in their publications, outreach to members and the media, and on their website.
  • Permission to use the Sloan Award Winner logo on company materials and to cite the award as a recruitment and retention tool.

All organizations with 10 or more employees in the Long Island region are eligible to apply.  The 2010 application process kicks off on January 12th. By simply applying for the Sloan Awards, companies will:

  • Receive customized benchmarking reports comparing their organization with nationally representative data, local organizations, and Sloan Award Winners—a blueprint for action. The benchmarking reports include an item-by-item comparison of the employer responses to questions about the flexibility of their work environment, including support for part-time work, family and medical leave, accountability, and various flexible work arrangements.
  • Have access to data to implement specific strategies to help recruit, develop, and retain talent, have more productive and satisfied employees, and positively affect the bottom line performance of your organization.
